SCHEDULE: Departing Eriskay we head south South past Barra to Mingulay. You will then have 3 hours to explore the island before heading to the sea stacks on the West of the island if weather permits and then back to Eriskay.
Description

Mingulay in sometimes referred to as the "Near St Kilda" due to it's accessibility from neighbouring islands. It was abandoned in 1912 and now is famous for it's bird life including the Puffins, Kittiwakes and Razorbills that nest in their thousands on sea cliffs that are amongst the highest in the British Isles. The waters around Mingulay and the other Bishops Isles are teaming with wildlife and Basking Shark sightings are not uncommon. Join Uist Sea Tours as we visit this spectacular island, sweeping down through the amazing blue waters of the Minch to encounter the Puffins of Mingulay.

Please note that the Puffins normally leave the island around the first week in August, we still offer trips here after that as Mingulay has so much more to offer

Due to avian flu the rangers of Mingulay have put up barriers into the puffin colony to keep them as safe as possible, do not worry though as you can sit just outside the colony with puffins still flying around you and still see/photograph them in their colony
